As the visa regulations are constantly changing (in the last 17 years there has been something new every year)
we cannot give any guarantee or further information!

Visas for Thailand can be applied for online in Switzerland - please visit this page:
https://www.thaiembassy.ch/Content/Embassy/55.html

Non-O visas cannot be applied for directly in Thailand.
However, extensions of these visas are possible here -  updated 28th January 2025
It is best to visit other sources of information such as the Phuket Immigration Volunteers to get the latest information.
Nevertheless, we inform here as up-to-date as possible and are happy about any information about changes for updating.

As most Swiss citizens have a Retirement Non-O Visa (minimum age 50 years),
the information is limited to this visa and refers to its renewal.

For other visa options, please contact the Phuket Immigration Office or a Thai Embassy directly.

The most common mistake that leads to the loss of a retirement visa is forgetting the re-entry permit before leaving the country.

Take your time and bring a book, for example - it can take time - always remain friendly - and come properly dressed.

For all entries into Thailand, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months. To apply for the new annual visa, even 18 months (12+6)
Foreigners who enter Thailand on a non-immigrant visa and live privately must be reported to Immigration by the landlord or a representative within 24 hours of each entry. You can also register your own apartment/house and then make these registrations online. As the website is mainly in Thai, a translator will be required.
However, before anything such as visa renewal or Certificate of Residence can be done, the registration of the residential address (notification) must be renewed after an exit and re-entry. See also below.

After leaving Thailand, the notification expires automatically.
With a retirement visa, you must also report any change of location within Thailand.

This means that if you are travelling in Thailand and are registered in a hotel somewhere, you must register again immediately on your return.

If you are returning to Phuket from INLAND, you can report to immigration at the drive-in and ask for an
UPDATE of the address. This requires the passport with the last piece of paper ‘RECEIPT OF NOTIFICATION’

Anyone returning to Phuket from abroad must also report to Immigration within 24 hours
and additionally register with TM 30.

Failure to comply with these regulations can be penalised with THB 2,000, registration is free of charge.

Notification Form for House-Master, Owner or the Possessor of the residence, where the alian has stayed
TM30 is also required to register guests.

This registration can also be done online. TM30.immigration.go.th/
First you have to register - whereby the help of a Thai person is helpful.
You have to register within 24 hours after your return, the notification is free of charge.
